No, provide an onsite eye testing service to school children of all ages who are entitled to Medicare. This service is without any cost or out-of-pocket expense to the parents/guardians or the school. All children and even teachers are eligible to participate in the service.

One in five Australian children suffers from an undetected vision problem or requires ongoing assessment. Good vision is important for a child’s educational, behavioural, and social development and to help them reach their full learning potential. Many children continue to experience undetected and unnecessary vision problems and often they assume that how they see is normal.

We are partnered with Vision Australia and provide free glasses as per below criteria

Additionally, we are able to offer ALL Aboriginal and Torres strait islander students’ free glasses regardless of socio-economic factors. We directly communicate with the parents and ask for the guardian’s name, date of birth and CRB number to make a claIm, depending on the eligibility criteria. Yes, Medicare provide unlimited eye testing, so having the services through Mobileyes does not impose a limitation on the student going to the optometrist in the future.

Students are tested by qualified Optometrist who are AHPRA registered and have appropriate WWCC checks. Most have further qualifications in Behavioural optometry or Therapeutic Optometry and can prescribe ey3 exerci8ses and eye drops.

Behavioural Optometrists are passionate about helping improve their patients’ quality of life.  They help to identify visual conditions in patients that have not previously been detected. 

Students may have had an eye exam when they started school, but not again over the years.  Peoples’ vision changes and it can deteriorate – if not monitored, students may be affected by not only poor vision, but by falling grades as well. We look not only at Visual Acuity- how one sees, but also how the eyes work and integrate with the brain to process information. We can refer students on for further private testing and vision therapy if required, however we provide free basic eye exercises where required, in our comprehensive reports

The comprehensive eye check-up program is bulk billed (no gap) to Medicare. The examination includes:

  • Clarity of vision assessment for Distance and Near
  • Internal and external eye health assessment
  • Eye co-ordination, binocular vision, Depth perception and colour vision assessment

Reports are emailed to the parents (via the email provided on the consent form). We also keep copies if they aren’t received. We will perform the check-ups and issue treatment reports to all participating parents within 24-48 hours of the service.

Medicare does not cover corporate onsite eye checks however we have extremely competitive all-inclusive packages which will be cheaper than a visit in store,
